EC call for proposals
The unique priority of the 2004 work programme of the small budget line
21-02-06 is to contribute to women access to paid employment in the
nonagriculture
sectors. The activities supported should aim at raising awareness of key
actors,
monitoring trends, participating in national dialogue on the MDGs and in
the development of national strategic plans. The focus will be on the fact
that both men and women play an active role in the economy of developing
countries and that a greater access and control by women of the key
productive resources is a way to promote
economic growth. Grants vary between 400.000 € and 1.000.000 €; 80% of
total costs are co-financed by the European Commission. Applicants must be
nonprofit,
state or non-state organisations and have their headquarters in a
developing country.
Project partners who benefit from the grant must satisfy the same
eligibility criteria as applicants. The call is organised in two stages.
Preliminary
proposals to be written in French or English must be submitted before the
24 January 2005.

The Research Initiative (PanAmericas) of the International Development
Research
Center (IDRC), the Institute for Connectivity in the Americas (ICA) and
the Latin
American and Caribbean Internet Address Registry (LACNIC), announce the
second
summons of the FRIDA Program (www.programafrida.net), and invites regional
research
organizations to present Projects in the field of Information and
Communication
Technologies seeking to be financed through the fund.
The characteristics of the financial support available for the 2005
summons are:
Amount of the financial support: up to US$ 12.500 and
Maximum time of project execution: 12 months.
Eligibility Criteria
Proposals should meet the following requirements in order to be considered
by Frida:
Originate from legally constituted non-profit organizations, either from
the public
or the private sectors.
Be presented by organizations having their head office and main activities
in Latin American or Caribbean countries.
Further one or more of the following goals: Developing or adapting new
technologies and standards, Social innovation in the use of new
technologies for development, and Modernization of public policies and
regulation.
Subject Matter Covered by Eligible Projects
The projects that will be selected must address at least one of the
following issues:
Formation and development of local capacities;
Innovations for improving productivity and employment;
Electronic government, social fairness;
Network security;
Wireless communication and networks;
Public Policies and Regulation.
How to Access the Funds
How to Access the Funds
Those organizations interested in applying for receiving support from the
Fund must obtain, complete and submit the forms available at
http://www.programafrida.net. These include:
· 1.Project Proposal Form, which must be completed according to the
guidelines contained in the form itself.
· 2.Annex containing complementary information considered relevant for the
evaluation of the proposal.
All the documents must be sent exclusively via email as a single
attachment to: convocatoria2005@programafrida.net, The email text must
contain: Project Title, Name of the Organization proposing the project,
and contact person information.
Due dates and stages of the application process
The deadline for submitting proposals is February 15, 2005 at 3:00 p.m.
(-2UTC). Proposals received after that date, will not be considered.
Proposals selected to receive the funds on the 2005 summons will be
notified starting on April 15, 2005.
After the formal notification, the Organizations have a maximum of one
month in order to complete all the formal requirements (verification
documents, letter of commitment, signature and sending of the Association
Agreement).
