Este año, agosto 17 sera el treceavo aniversario de la Convergencia 
Armonica.  Michael Irving de World Action, Patricia Cota-Robles del Congreso 
Mundial de Iluminacion y  otros como nosotros, estamos trabajando para 
reencender la visión original de la Convergencia Armonica al 
llamar a los trabajadores de la luz y a aquellos que sueñan con el despertar 
de la humanidad, para reunirse el proximo 17 de agosto del 2000, para 
fundamentar la vision del cambio global. 
 
La vision original de la Convergencia Armonica fue de una focalizacion por 
la unidad y el amor a traves de la transformacion divina.  Fue iniciada en 
1987 por un estudioso de los mayas, Jose Argüelles.  Trabajando con los 
ciclos del Calendario Maya, el inspiro a miles en todo el mundo a reunirse 
en los lugares sagrados el 16-17 de agosto para meditar y retener la vision 
como parte de un evento llamado "Convergencia Armonica". De acuerdo a su 
interpretación de la cosmologia maya, este tiempo marca el final de un ciclo 
de Nueve Infiernos y el principio de una nueva era de paz universal, como se 
predice en algunas Profecías Mayas.  Para Jose se marco el momento cuando la 
Tierra entro en resonancia armonica con el centro galactico y fue impregnada 
con las energias de transformacion galacticas.  Su comunicado original a la 
prensa salio justo cuando una supernova mayor aparecio en el cielo: la mas 
brillante supernova desde 1604.  En astrologia, una supernova representa una 
infusion masiva de luz galactica y  cuando sus coordenadas se convirtieron 
de ecuatoriales a zodiacales, estaba en Acuario, el signo de la Nueva Era y 
del despertar de la conciencia grupal.  En su aviso a la prensa, el 
escribio: 
 
"Al iniciarse el amanecer en cualquier lugar de la Tierra, el domingo 16 de 
agosto de 1987, 144,000 humanos estaran siendo convocados para crear un 
campo completo de confianza al rendirse al planeta y a las mas altas 
inteligencias galácticas que guian y monitorean el planeta.  En ese tiempo y 
continuando hasta el lunes, 17 de agosto, las mas altas inteligencias 
galácticas estaran transmitiendo una vision colectiva planetaria asi como 
mensajes con destino personal  a traves de esta gente, los arcoiris 
 humanos". 
 
El numero 144,000 es significativo en Gematria (numerologia hebrea) al estar 
conectado con la manifestacion de la luz.  En el pasaje anterior puede 
tomarse simbolicamente como la cantidad de seres totalmente concientes que 
trabajan juntos para lograr una masa critica de despertar dentro de la 
consciencia colectiva. 
 
Jose definio la Convergencia Armonica como "el punto en el cual el contador 
giratorio de la historia llega a un alto momentáneo y se inicia el 
imperceptible giro del comienzo de la post-historia".  Ciertamente, desde la 
Convergencia Armonica hemos visto caer el Muro de Berlin, el final de la 
Guerra Fria, y mas y mas gente que despierta.  Muchos comentaristas reclaman 
que mucho menos  de las profecias dadas por Nostradamus y Edgar Cayce  estan 
siendo realizadas.  Parece que a un nivel, el curso de la historia ha 
cambiado.  Sí, ahora existen nuevos desafios que enfrentar tales como la 
centralización del poder global, el crecimiento de la división ricos-pobres 
y la destrucción ecologica (todas las cuales estan interrelacionadas) pero 
existe 
una nueva interconexion holistica y consciencia global de re-emerger, 
estimulados por el crecimiento de la Red Internet y evidenciado por las 
protestas masivas contra la Organizacion Mundial de Comercio, la ingenieria 
genetica en los alimentos y la deuda del Tercer Mundo. 
 
Para sustentar la vision original de la Convergencia Armonica, Michael 
Irving ha lanzado una iniciativa llamada "World Action" (Accion Mundial), 
que usa la fecha 17 de Agosto como la fecha focal para una re-union mundial 
anual.  Su sugerencia es que nos reunamos en los sitios sagrados y en los 
lugares 
con belleza natural, para hacer contacto gozoso con otra gente que se 
preocupa por la 
Tierra y la Humanidad, hacer trabajo de red, concelebrar, cocrear y  enlazar 
a los 
participantes de todo el mundo.  El sábado o domingo mas cercano al agosto 
17, tambien puede usarse para este fin. 
 
El llamado de Michael hace surgir una importante pregunta: Aún nos preocupa 
y nos sentimos lo suficientemente inspirados para reunirnos como Uno, en 
meditación y celebración, como lo hicimos originalmente en 1987?  Michael 
esta de hecho pidiendonos reencontrarnos con nuestra vision colectiva como 
trabajadores de la luz y continuar dandole poder en todo momento para que 
pueda alcanzar la precipitacion. 
 
Encuestas conducidas en la Universidad de Yale 
ya revelaron que aquellos individuos que tenian una clara 
vision de las metas de su vida y las escribian, dandoles fuerza cada dia, 
eventualmente encontraban el exito en sus vidas, mientras que aquellos que 
no lo hacian, se sentian mucho menos satisfechos.  El mismo principio se 
aplica a nivel colectivo y el dar poder a la vision ocurre cuando nos 
unimos, todos juntos,  en espíritu. 
 
Mientras que parece que nuevas energias estan llegando a la Tierra para 
ayudar a poner los cimientos de la Edad de Luz, es nuestra decisión si 
deseamos construir sobre esos cimientos , ya que tenemos libre albedrío. 
Nos importa verdaderamente lo suficiente para invertir nuestra energia en 
la vision de un despertar colectivo, sin importar el costo? ¿ Nos importa 
verdaderamente suficiente unirnos en nuestra diversidad para bailar nuestro 
sueño de despertar y catalizar la plenitud de la consciencia colectiva a 
traves del efecto resonante de trabajar unidos como uno?  El mundo es lo que 
hacemos de el, porque nuestros pensamientos lo crean en cada instante de 
nuestra vida.  En el pasado fuimos iniciados en templos.  Ahora nos hemos 
graduado del templo del Planeta Tierra y nuestra iniciacion nos induce a 
movernos mas alla de los limites de nuestro ego personal para experimentar 
nuestro ser desde la perspectiva colectiva, asi como desde la perspectiva 
personal.  El que tengamos exito o no en esta tarea, sera determinado en el 
curso futuro de la historia. 
 
Cuando vemos la astrologia de agosto 17, 2000, vemos a Urano, el planeta del 
despertar, formando una conjuncion exacta con el asteroide Juno en Acuario, 
el signo de la Nueva Era.  Juno representa como organizamos nuestras 
relaciones, a nivel personal o de grupo, particularmente a traves de la 
actividad ceremonial.   Podria ser mas claro el mensaje? La Luna en Piscis 
aumentara nuestra sensibilidad al espiritu y formara una oposicion exacta al 
asteroide Pallas en Virgo.  Pallas, la Diosa de la Sabiduria, que surgio ya 
crecida de la frente de su padre (chacra de la ceja) representa nuestra 
propia innata conexion con la Fuente y las formas en las cuales damos 
nuestra expresion practica de la vision.  Estimulada por la Luna, nos 
ayudara a aterrizar nuestra espiritualidad a través del esfuerzo practico de 
Virgo.  Pero con Mercurio en Leo, formando una cerrada oposicion a la 
conjuncion de Urano y Juno, primero debemos haber establecido una 
integracion mas cercana entre nuestras preocupaciones personales y nuestros 
valores colectivos.  En otras palabras, primero debemos movernos mas alla de 
la auto-absorcion egoista para desear bailar el sueño del despertar.

Harmonic Convergence and August 17, 2000

This year, August 17 will be the thirteenth anniversary of Harmonic 
Convergence. Michael Irving of World Action, Patricia Cota-Robles of the 
World Congress on Illumination, and others like them, are working in their 
own way to rekindle the original vision of Harmonic Convergence by calling 
upon lightworkers and those who dream of an awakened humanity, to gather 
together on August 17, 2000 to ground the vision of global awakening. 
 
The original vision of Harmonic Convergence was of a global awakening to 
unity and love through divine transformation. It was initiated in 1987 by 
the Mayan scholar, Jose Arguelles. Working with the cycles of the Mayan 
Calendar, he inspired many thousands around the world to gather at sacred 
sites on August 16-17 to meditate and hold the vision as part of an event 
called "Harmonic Convergence". According to his interpretation of Mayan 
cosmology, this time marked the end of the cycle of Nine Hells and the 
beginning of a new age of universal peace, as foretold in the Mayan 
Prophecies. For Jose it marked a moment when the Earth came into harmonic 
resonance with the galactic centre and was impregnated with transformational 
galactic energies. His original press release went out at a time when a 
major supernova appeared in the sky - the brightest supernova since 1604. In 
astrology supernovae represent a massive infusion of galactic light, and 
this one, when converted from equatorial to zodiacal coordinates, was in 
Aquarius - the sign of the New Age and of the awakening of group 
consciousness. In his press release, he wrote: 
 
"Beginning at dawn everywhere on the Earth on Sunday, August 16, 1987, 
144,000 humans are being called upon to create a complete field of trust by 
surrendering themselves to the planet and to the higher galactic 
intelligences which guide and monitor the planet. At that time and 
continuing through Monday, August 17, the higher galactic intelligences will 
be transmitting a collective planetary vision as well as messages of 
personal destiny to and through these people, the rainbow humans." The 
number 144,000 is significant in Gematria (Hebrew numerology), being 
connected with the manifestation of light. In the above passage it can be 
taken symbolically as the quantity of fully conscious beings who are working 
together to achieve a critical mass of awakening within the collective 
consciousness. 
 
Jose defined Harmonic Convergence as "the point at which the counter-spin of 
history finally comes to a momentary halt, and the still imperceptible spin 
of post-history commences". Certainly, since Harmonic Convergence we have 
seen the Berlin Wall come down, the end of the Cold War, and more and more 
people waking up. Many commentators are claiming that fewer of the 
predictions given by Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce are coming true. It seems 
that on one level the course of history has indeed changed. Yes, there are 
new challenges to face, such as the centralisation of global power, the 
growing rich-poor divide, and ecological destruction (all of which are 
linked); but there is a new interconnectivity and global conscience that is 
starting to emerge, stimulated by the growth of the Internet, and evidenced 
by the mass protests against the World Trade Organisation, the genetic 
engineering of food, and Third World debt. 
 
To support the original vision of Harmonic Convergence, Michael Irving has 
launched an initiative called 'World Action', which uses August 17 as the 
focal date for an annual 'World Gathering'. His suggestion is that we gather 
at sacred sites and places of natural beauty, make contact with other people 
who are concerned for the Earth and Humanity, network, celebrate, and link 
up with participants all around the world. The nearest Saturday or Sunday to 
August 17 can also be used for this. 
 
Michael's call raises an important question: Do we still care and feel 
inspired enough to come together as one in meditation and celebration as we 
did originally in 1987? Michael is in effect asking us to reacquaint 
ourselves with our collective vision as lightworkers, and to continue to 
empower it at all times so that it may reach fruition. Interestingly, 
surveys conducted at Yale University revealed that those individuals who had 
a clear vision of their life aims and wrote it down, empowering it every 
day, eventually found success in their lives, while those who did not do 
this felt much less fulfilled. The same principle applies on the collective 
level, and the empowering of the vision occurs when we unite together in 
Spirit. 
 
While new energies seem to be coming to Earth to help lay the foundation for 
the Light Age, it is up to us whether we wish to build upon that foundation, 
for we have the free will. Do we care passionately enough to invest our 
energy into the vision of collective awakening, no matter what the cost? Do 
we care passionately enough to unite in our diversity to dance our dream 
awake - to catalyse the awakening of the collective consciousness through 
the resonant effect of working together as one? The world is what we make 
it, for our thoughts create it in every moment of our being. In the past we 
were initiated in temples. We have now graduated to the temple of Planet 
Earth, and our initiation concerns us moving beyond the limits of our 
personal ego to experience our being from a collective perspective as well 
as from a personal perspective. Whether we succeed or not in this task will 
determine the future course of our history. 
 
When we look at the astrology of August 17, 2000, we see Uranus, the planet 
of awakening, forming an exact conjunction with the asteroid Juno in 
Aquarius, the sign of the New Age. Juno represents how we organise our 
relationships, on a personal or group level, particularly through ceremonial 
activity. Could the message be any clearer? The Moon in Pisces will heighten 
our sensitivity to Spirit, and will form an exact opposition to the asteroid 
Pallas in Virgo. Pallas, the Goddess of Wisdom, who sprang fully grown from 
her father's forehead (brow chakra), represents our own innate connection 
with the Source, and the ways in which we give our vision practical 
expression. Triggered by the Moon, it will help us to ground our 
spirituality through the practical effort of Virgo. But with Mercury in Leo, 
forming a close opposition to the conjunction of Uranus and Juno, we must 
first have established a closer integration between our personal 
preoccupations and our collective values. In other words, we must first have 
moved beyond egoistic self-absorption to want to dance our dream awake.
